Yes. Most of my days are 9-10 hours long. So at the evening I am quite tired.

Yes, especially after disasters because people need our help immmediately and we generally try to get immediate needs into place as soon as possible. In difficult situations I may work between 16 and 17 hours in a day, making me very tired.

Compared to Alexander and Ken, I think I have it easy!

I usually work from about 8am until 4pm so my hours are reasonable and I don’t tend to feel too tired – unless it’s been a very hectic day! Today I’ve been on two site visits to plan some construction work on the river that we will start next week. This good fun as I like being by the river, so I don’t really go home tired!

Tomorrow I’m out on a patrol boat for the day on the River Thames – looking at shallow spots and other problems and planning ways to solve these problems. So that should be fun too!

Like Jed my working days are pretty civilised, usually 8-4:30 but I come home and have to sort out a toddler these days which is exhausting after work. I used to work much longer hours but having a child has forced me to stop at 4:30 so I can pick him up.
Work does seem to come in waves though and sometimes I do have to restart work after my son has gone to bed and that’s pretty tiring. I notice that the only other people online at 10pm are the working mums.
