Yes Bella I do. It sounds like it might be an awful job but it’s really interesting and varied. It does feel like I am doing something worthwhile when I see the nice clean water leaving the works.

Also, it lends well to lots of silly jokes amongst the engineers, along the lines of “I’ve had a poo day, how about you?”. Water treatment seems to attract hippy types, I suppose because of the environmental side, and that suits me too.

Hi, Bella. I never worked on the sewage works taht Harriet works with. But I have worked with the Sewage treatment plants on ships. Large ships are like small cities, they have all of their own: kitchens, hospitals, churches, houses, and sewage treatment too. To me it is a vital part of the ship. Sure they ship would be able to go without them working but it will be polluting the environment and I don’t think that it is a good thing. From engineering point of view they are reasonably simple things to make work on ships. Few tanks, few pipes, few valves and pumps. I only been in them after they are chemically cleaned so they smell ok. So, in short, yep it’s fine!
