• Question: Have you read Harry Potter? Does the idea of magic appeal to you? Or do you prefer engineering?

      An interesting question !

      I have read only one of the Harry Potter books and note that J K Rowling writes compellingly but what many people view as magic is, to me, often a challenge to see how the audience has been deceived. That then leads me back to engineering because if I can understand how a deception is achieved, then I might be able to emulate the trick (or reverse-engineer it).

      Haven’t read any. I have a prejudice against them. I tend to stay away from any book that says bestseller on it. Also it appears to me that these books are for younger people. However I can not really judge.

      My fiancée is a massive fun of Harry Potter, so she has slowly made me watch all of them so I have a rough idea of what’s going on in the story. I can not honestly believe that magic like shown in the movies can exist in our lives. But doesn’t stop people enjoying it in the world of their imagination.

      I am a massive fan of fantasy books and have read oodles of them. So yes magic massively appeals to me. I’ve also read a couple of the Harry Potter books and will read them again to my daughter when she is old enough. If only magic was real – can you imagine what the world would be like? I think my job would be very different if I could use magic to help!!
