Probably the typical range will be £22-£65k a year. Depends what you do. I imagine a graduate starting pay now days varies from £22 to £30k per year. As you get more experienced (say 5-7 years) the salary would go up to £37-£55k per year. And then if you are really good at what you do and you are a consultant, or chief engineer or something along this lines, typically with 10 years or more experience you can get a salary of up to 80k. You get paid more if you go offshore or do a lot of shift work. Also if you move into managerial role you can expect salaries of up to 100k per year.
Many engineers go on to become top level executives with salaries and bonuses in the region of 100k – 1m per year. But obviously not everyone get that. In my conpany the Director here at Rosyth is an ex-engineer, director of the Marine group (his boss) is an ex-engineer and the chairman of the whole company (his boss) is an ex engineer. So there you go.
