We believe that the Tara is made in around 8 or 9 countries and is probably used in about twelve to fourteen countries or more. Accurate data are hard to find; for instance, even in Bangladesh where the Tara was invented and first made, we can only obtain accurate information on Tara pumps supplied to the government (well over 300,000) while there is a very active private sector there as well. Indian manufacturers have been very active in both their own market as well as exports from the very earliest days.
