      Well, I was caned (yes, they used canes on us when I was a boy) for bunking out of school to go to a film when it was banned (I got four lashes), and when I was caught with cigarettes (I got six lashes). it didn’t make me into a good boy, it just made me much more devious so I wouldn’t get caught again !

      I would say medium. I always got on well with my parents and don’t think I was causing much trouble. But they made my life easy by being honest and liberal themselves. They never forbid me do anything without explaining why and I would always agree with them.
      At school I would go through different stages. I always did get on well with teachers that were honest and could control themselves and treat everyone with respect. But I didn’t get on well with teachers that were patronising or intimidating. I haven’t done everything by the book in school. But didn’t cause any trouble on purpose.

      I was probably a bit of a swot – always doing well in tests and always behaving well in class. Mostly I’d just get in trouble with girls.
