• Question: What age do you expect to retire from your job?

      Between 60 and 70 I would guess.

      Jamie, I’d like to think that I would never retire because I never tire of engineering. However, some things get in the way of this – like employers who seem to think that young is “good”, and old is “bad”. I expected to retire at 60 (because the UN forces staff to retire at that age) but I was able to continue working as a freelance consultant until just short of 70. I would have continued except that I have responsibilities at home so I am now “teaching” rather than “doing” engineering.

      So, I have already retired, more’s the pity !

      I’m not sure really. Some people I work with retire at about 60… but I guess it depends on what happens to me by then and where and what work I’m doing. Maybe I’ll want to retire earlier or later. I’ll try and keep my options open!
